We held auditions recently, for the fall shows, but unfortunately did not get enough people, so we are putting the next couple shows on hold for now, until we can build up our base of actors.
We refuse to give up! We believe in the GTCP ! I will admit, however, we need to take a step back and reevaluate the plans and goals of the GTCP. Did we misjudge the need for community theatre, here in Grand Terrace ? I was hoping there was a lot of theatre minded people here in town. This organization was created for Grand Terrace and the surrounding communities.
I’ve also learned the hard way, you can send information to the newspapers you just can’t always be sure it will get printed, or where it will be printed. If there is a sure fire way to get the notices published, please won’t someone share that information with me ?
We’ve also asked businesses here in town to post notices up in their windows, but then again, one can only ask. This does not guarantee the notices will be posted (A big Thank You to Stater Bros. and the GT Library for always posting our notices !!). The only other way to get the word out is online, but not everyone has access to a computer.
Perhaps we need to approach this from another direction. We’ll wait until the schools in the area are back in session, then blanket them with flyers.
We’re also thinking of holding meetings up in the Community Room, to see if we can get more of the community involved in this group.
In the meantime, we will be working on making our presence known in the community, applying for grants (in order to get this organization funded and equipped properly). We are still looking for people (ALL ages !) to join our organization. We need actors, volunteers, tech people, set builders, Board Members, etc. If you are interested please email us at gtcommunityplayers@yahoo.com .
Please help us spread the word; Grand Terrace has Community Theatre !!
Thank you !
